Weddington, North Carolina-About This Interesting Place

Weddington, North Carolina is located on the eastern bank of the Davidson River. It is one of the oldest towns in Davidson County. It was first settled during the eighteenth century by German immigrants. It was named after the place where an early settlement of the name had occurred. Today it is known as a center for the textile industry. The city is located on the eastern banks of the Davidson River and the present-day area contains one of the largest concentrations of mills in the state. The population of Weddington, NC, is about 9,000 at the current time. It is a small part of Davidson County located east of Charlotte. The city is bordered on the east by a busy highway, and on the west by a golf course. It borders Orange County on its west and Northampton County on its east. Weddington was incorporated as a city in 1978. It was one of three cities to hold the name before the merger with Orange County.
